Under the Texas Criminal Code, a misdemeanor is a crime punishable by one year or less.  They include but are not limited to Driving While Intoxicated, Driving Under the Influence, Minor in Possession, Assault, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Trespass,  and Burglary.

Class A Misdemeanors.  Sentence of up to one year or a fine up to $4,000.  They include:

Class C Misdemeanors.  Fine only not exceeding $500.  They include:

• Theft valuing less than $50
